The Michael Van Clarke salon experience is built on an obsessive devotion to the clients’ best hair in friendly and luxurious surroundings. Set in the heart of London’s Marylebone, it’s a firm favourite of the style cognoscenti and one of the Capital’s favourite salons.
The Michael Van Clarke Brand Book began life with a Brand Planning Workshop, working to define the values of the Michael Van Clarke brand. But over time it became apparent that it could be so much more than an internal values document. I looked at it. I looked at it again. And then I went back and had another look. All with the goal of making the project the best that it could be.
What started to take shape was a book that not only talked about the company, its products and its values, but which actually embodied the brand. Each spread was individually crafted to reflect and define the content whilst keeping a consistent level of communication throughout. A photoshoot was directed to ensure the quality and style of imagery reflected the brand perfectly. Stocks and materials were sourced from all corners of the globe to ensure the final books would be luxurious, up-market, impactful and, in my own language, touchy-feely (that's a technical printing term I believe).
Two versions were printed. The main print run was a hard-backed book, wrapped with a hessian cloth and silver foiled. The second run, for valued clients, was wrapped with Peltouch, debossed and screw bound.
